Museuminsel Part II

IMG_1370

Happy Monday y’all!

Part II of our visit to the Museum Island here in Berlin is divided in the other three museums: Bode Museum, Alte Nationalgalerie and the Pergamon museum. Boy did we see a lot of art this day! But I did not get tired at all of seeing some of the great pieces of art in the world, just a little bit from the walking around…but still totally worth it!

Hope you enjoy it as much as I did, and if you have the opportunity of visiting the Museuminsel, please do!!

Museuminsel Part I

altes

Back in August we reserved a whole day to visit the Museum Island in Berlin, we already had it on our list since we got here and finally crossed it out when Rafael’s friend from Brazil, Lucas, came to visit us. The museum island is located in the Spree river in Mitte, and is divided in five museums: Altes Museum, Neues Museum, Alte Nationalgalerie, Bode Museum and Pergamon Museum. We went on a Thursday, because that day all the museums stay open until 8:00 pm, so we bought a combi-ticket for 18 euros and started visiting around 11 am. Today I am going to share the photos of the Neues and Altes Museum, so that the post doesn’t get too big…haha

Ron Mueck

photo 2 (1)Here are some pictures of the awesome Ron Mueck Exhibition that we visited at the Pinacoteca Art Gallery.

I didn’t know this artist, but boy was I impressed! His sculptures are so realistic, it’s amazing how he can capture the day-to-day life in a variety of sizes.

We enjoyed it pretty much!

You still have time to go and visit, the exhibition ends on February 22nd.

Hope you have a nice weekend! xoxo

Made by Brazilians

photo 4 (1)

Last week Rafael and I went to the exhibition Made by Brazilians, it took place at the old Hospital Matarazzo, that was disabled for more than 20 years. Truthfully, I have seen better exhibitions, the hospital architecture impressed me more than the art itself….there was a lot of different installations and they managed to use the inside and outside of the hospital. Here are my favourites 🙂

Hope you have a nice week!

Yayoi Kusama

photo 5 (1)This weekend was a lot of fun, we went to Yayoi Kusama’s exhibition that arrived last week to São Paulo at the Tomie Ohtake Institute. I didn’t know the artist before, but may I tell you, her Infinite Obsession work theme blew my mind! There is so much knowledge behind her paintings, sculptures, videos and installations. I always wonder about the process, how do they get there, what kind of experience did they have? She lived a little while in New York most of the time during the 60’s, and met people like Andy Warhol and Claes Oldenburg. I always think of the 60’s and 70’s as a revolutionary time in society, music and art, sometimes I wish I was born in the late 50’s just to experience that time. Yayoi nowadays lives in Japan and still dedicates her life to art. So please find a time in your agenda to check out this wonderful exhibition, it stays until july 27th.
