Hello beautiful spread throughout the world!

Long time no speak! If you were wondering where I’ve been for the past two months, I’ve been at home, enjoying the amazing Spring weather and eating A LOT (of course)! hahahaha how about you guys, what have you been up to? Hope that you are happy wherever you are! And if you are in Germany, there is no doubt you have been happy for all the sunny days! Seriously though, this past week was crazy hot, 33 degrees Celsius in May….caught myself actually asking for rain, because the air was so sultry. And it actually rained a lot on Friday, a little bit yesterday and today…cloudy skies and cool weather for the weekend, the plants must be enjoying it as well! Ok, so enough about Berlin’s weather conditions…hahhaha

Random: Current Addiction – Greta Van Fleet

fleet

Two weeks ago during lunch, Rafa played me a song and said: “do you know who’s singing?”, and without a doubt in my mind, I asked: “is it Robert Plant?”. Rafa looked at me, smiled and said :”no, it isn’t! It’s a new band called Greta Van Fleet!”. I was shocked, to say the least, I have never heard a voice so similar to Robert Plant’s, and the song was good too, he played the Safari Song to me. Now friends, let me tell you something…I am a total rock chick! hahaha I like other genres of music, but they are very limited and I do feel like a fish out of water in Berlin with its famous electronic scene…I absolutely hate it! hahaha don’t get me wrong, we gave it a try once, and after 20 minutes at a club, the only thing I thought was, please, let’s get out of here now! But we actually lasted 2 whole hours, enough experience for a whole lifetime if you ask me! hahahaha

Life, lately…

ACS-0028

Hi people! Guess who’s back, back again?! After a two weeks of silence I am back! Not sure for how long….but that’s ok, right?! hahaha I had an interesting couple of weeks, one bad, and the other one really good…livin’ that old yin-yang life. Two weeks ago, Paco (my dog), caught the worst stomach flu ever….seriously, he has been sick before, but never like this…he threw up more than ten times before I took him to the vet. I have never seen him so weak and quiet, and for a hyper energetic dog, that was really scary. He didn’t eat for almost three whole days, he got shots, antibiotics, pills…but thank God, after five days he was his old jumpy, leash pulling little monster again! hahaha He got sick on his birthday, gosh what a present…so I wasn’t able to celebrate the proper way…I always like to take a picture of him on his birthday with those number balloons, almost what people do today to say how months old are their baby…hahaha It’s a nice way to remember him as the years pass by. I took the picture this year after his actual birthday, when he was already feeling well, and I loved the result! The balloon was way much cooler than last year’s, but since he only turned two, I can still get better and better at this! hahaha

Goodbye 2017!

2017 Best Nine from Instagram

2017 what a year!! This year was really good to us, I’m so grateful for that! What I will remember the most is our first trip to France! I always dreamed of going to France, and I still can’t believe it happened 😀 I still have a lot of pictures to share from that trip (I know, I thought I would be done until the end of the year, but that didn’t happen…so you’ll still hear about it in 2018! hahaha). Also, our apartment was renovated, and it looks 1000% better with nice floors and some blue walls! Yes, it was stressful, but we powered through! It was the first time I went to an open-air cinema to watch The Beguiled…probably the last also…who knew that people could smoke while watching the movie (I hate smoke!), but I had to go and see how it was…hahaha Summer was really rainy, but I still went to the pool a couple of times on the hot days, and of course to the park with Paco. I bought roller skates and felt like I was a child with its first pair! Enjoyed it a lot at the park…with Paco as well…hahaha My family and friend came to visit in the beginning of the year and we also had the most amazing time together…then Rafael’s mother came with a friend to visit us again in September, and we also had a lovely time together…We love having people at our place! Enjoyed watching the leaves turning golden, brown, yellow, orange and red in Autumn. And for the first time since we’ve been here for the past two years it snowed before Christmas! I couldn’t be more thrilled about that! Made some embroidery, still currently learning knitting…I hope that picks up in 2018! hahaha Made delicious things in the kitchen, and for the very first time, I made beef bourguignon, and it came out very delicious (almost sure you can’t mess up that recipe..haha). Had an awesome Christmas feast for our friends for the third year in a row..really happy about that one!

I’m so happy about the little things and big things that happened in 2017, and I hope that 2018 will be the same or even better! I want to be more present around here next year, because it’s a thing that I really love doing! And I wanted to say thank you for every like and comment around here, that really makes me happy…connecting with people that are around the world!

I hope you have an amazing New Year’s Eve, wherever you are, and may your 2018 be filled with happiness, blessings, adventures, peace, health and lots and lots of love! ❤ ❤ ❤

See you all next year!

xx

10 Gift Ideas for Designers!

gifts

20 days until Christmas! But who’s counting?! Me, me, me!! I’m definitely on the countdown for Christmas and can’t wait to make our Christmas dinner again this year! I may be a little late for this post (or not) because I’m planning to buy Rafael’s Christmas present(s) this week. I never do these kind of posts around here, but I thought it would be fun to do it this year 😀 Since Rafael is a graphic designer, I decided to ask him what cool gifts he would like to get and make a list out of it. Now, he already has a couple of gifts from the list, and I would definitely love to give him the others, but I already had set my mind on a different thing, so maybe he’ll get them in the future…hahaha I think I created a pretty cool and diverse gift list, with some easy affordable things, and some that requires a little bit more money….so pick how many you like! haha Hope you enjoy!

Random: Barefoot in the Park + wine & bruschetta

1118full-barefoot-in-the-park-poster

Hey there!

It’s been quite a while, right?! Didn’t show my face around here last month, and as I always say, time is really flying by. We had a full apartment last month, with my mother-in-law and her friend coming to visit, and we really had a great time…little trips, really good food made by the hubby, walks around Berlin (if you follow me on Instagram brunaiglezias, you know what I’m talking about 🙂 )….it’s crazy to say this, but sometimes I forget that I live in Berlin, I love going for a walk at Unter den Linden (close to the Brandenburg gate), Potsdamer Platz, Kurfürstendamm…but we rarely go to these places just to walk around, we almost never leave our neighbourhood, Neukölln, we should definitely explore this city more!

Random: Current obsession – Mistério do Planeta – Novos Baianos

Novos_baianos

This week, I’m listening to a lot of Brazilian music, in my opinion its one of the best things about Brazil, and I’m not just talking about samba or bossa nova….I’m actually talking about Brazilian rock’n’roll! Yes, this may sound a little weird for you…but every time that I mention to somebody that I’m from Brazil, they say immediately: “Oh, samba!”hahaha. But what you may not know is that in the 60’s, Brazil had a great psychedelic rock/tropicália band called Novos Baianos, ok, so you may say that their music is a mix of samba rock, MPB or popular brazilian music and bossa nova…but that my friend, is the beauty of it 🙂 Odly, the Novos Baianos were from Salvador, Bahia, but back then the music scene was totally different from today, because nowadays Axé music dominates the city. But also in that time, things were totally different, at a certain point, the band, which had eleven members, lived together in a community at Vargem Grande, Rio de Janeiro, nothing more hippie than that at the time. The band broke up in 1978, due to members leaving to start their own solo careers, but they reunited many times to celebrate special events, like in 2009 for their 40th anniversary. I’m glad that this revolutionary Brazilian rock band left such a rich legacy behind.

Random: Current obsession – Gypsy – Fleetwood Mac

fleet

I started watching the Netflix series Gypsy last week, and I got totally seduced by the opening credits, after seeing that smashed bottle of Bulleit whiskey (and also during the episodes, because Jean’s favourite drink is an Old Fashioned), and listening to Stevie Nick’s beautiful voice in the new version of Gypsy….I got obsessed!!! Now I’m listening to that music a hundred times a day, and I also found myself ordering an old fashioned last week when we went to a bar. Obviously it was not the first time I had it, when we lived in São Paulo, Rafael used to do it a lot at home, but I think he never did it here. To tell you the truth, I’m not a big fan of whiskey, at least not “neat” or “on the rocks”, it’s too strong that way for me. But there is something quite tasty about the old fashioned, and when I tried it again last week, I said to myself, maybe this is my drink!

Random: Master of None – Season 2

master-of-none-s2

I would like to write more things on the blog besides food, travel, embroidery and Berlin…a while back I started with my five favourite things of the week, as an encouragement to write about other interesting things that I like. I used to post it once a week and always on fridays, but somehow I started to get a little lost, and sometimes I didn’t find five things that I liked during a week (ridiculous, right?! how hard can that be?!). I eventually lost interest of doing that, but I still have things that I want to share on the blog that are not under a specific category of things that I usually post. So I decided to do random posts, about random subjects 🙂 This will be the first one (let’s see how long this idea will last this time…hahha) and it’s about a Netflix show that I really enjoy watching, Master of None! BE CAREFUL, SPOILER ALERT!
