I usually don’t write a lot about fashion, but that doesn’t mean I’m not interested on the subject. I think mainly because I’m not an avid fashion consumer, I don’t buy clothes every month, and some pieces in my closet are from friends or family who were giving away clothes in perfect condition. I always try to style my pieces in different looks and sometimes when I get bored with something I try to customize it. I’ve always been a huge fan of customize clothes, I remember when I was in high school, I had a pair of jeans that I loved and painted it with all the names of my favourite rock bands. I also liked to rip my jeans and have friends write on my brand new all-stars, that really drove my family crazy…hahahahahaha but you know…phases!
I think I can say that I matured those ideas, and today I like sewing and embroidering on my clothes. I came up with this idea because one of my favourite necklace broke, I couldn’t fix it, so instead I decided to sew it on my sweater. In the end, I didn’t have to throw out the necklace, on the contrary, I got a “new”sweater! And all I needed was a pair of scissors, a needle and thread.
As you can see, first I dismembered the broken necklace, a good thing about it is that each piece already had its own base with a hole.
I changed the original necklace setting, because I thought that this way it looked much better on the sweater. Sewing each piece was really easy, I passed the thread through each hole three times, and then gave it three tight knots on the back, so it wouldn’t fall down or get loose too easily.
Not just an old grey sweater anymore! I loved the result 😀
Good thing to know that from now on I can wear my jewellery another way…ha! 😉
Have a wonderful first week of 2016! ❤
