Cafe Einstein Stammhaus

We are very lucky to have such a nice landlord, based on my past experiences, he is one of the best! When we moved in the apartment, he wrote us an e-mail about the nice and cool things to do around the neighborhood. We’ve gone to street markets, we went to eat burgers at a place as he describes “the best burger” and let me tell you, he wasn’t wrong about that! One time we asked him were could we eat a good ol’ Apfelstrudel, and I think he didn’t even think twice before saying: “At Cafe Einstein Stammhaus“. So these days Rafael and I were walking around Berlin, I got a little hungry and remembered the Cafe, it’s not very close to our home, but it was totally worth it 🙂

White Cheese Quiche

It’s been a while since I posted some recipes on the blog, I enjoy cooking very much, but since we got here in Berlin, we are cooking basic stuff, nothing different or special, especially because our kitchen isn’t fully equipped. We pretend to buy ourselves a blender this week or the next, its really something you’ve gotta have in your kitchen, I’ve been missing it a lot! Continue reading

Hofbräu München

IMG_0799As I already said, Berlin has a lot of places to eat, each corner you turn, BAM! there it is!

But what’s funny is that it’s not easy to find german food (unless its currywurst). As a tourist I was expecting that my main meal would be sausages, pork, potatoes and sauerkraut. Because I would usually eat that at a typical German restaurant in Sao Paulo. Boy was I wrong! I find myself eating a lot of italian, asian and arab food. Since I got here I was really craving a typical german meal, which was satisfied at Hofbräu München.

Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

photo 3Here in Brazil we don’t have the tradition of baking cookies. You can find some brands in the supermarket, but for me it’s not the same thing, usually they are dry and hard…not good for me! So yesterday afternoon I adventured myself in the kitchen and tried to make my first oatmeal raisin cookies, and after a little research on the web, I came across this recipe on Smitten Kitchen…thick, chewy oatmeal raisin cookies? Yes please!

Homemade Gnocchi

IMG_5077

While I was growing up in Sao Roque, a small town near Sao Paulo, my aunt and cousin had a small business at home, they sold homemade frozen meals. I would help them in the kitchen some days during the week and on weekends. Saturday was especially for pasta, my aunt would make lasagna, cannelloni, gnocchi and I was responsible for cooking them.

Leek Quiche

IMG_5017

Yesterday I was looking for a light recipe to cook for dinner, I have this brazilian cook book, Dona Benta, and it has a lot of recipes. I came across the section of tartlets, pizzas and pies, and I finally decided to make a leek quiche. This recipe is very good, you can have it for dinner, brunch, lunch…just pick a meal!

Wine and Dine

On Wednesday my boyfriend and I went out for my birthday dinner, I’m celebrating early because this year it will fall on mother’s day, tell me about a tough competition..hahaha.. We went to Serafina an italian restaurant, first time there. The place is cute and comforting, soft lounge music, dim light and each table has a little glowing candle, good to go in couples, friends and families. Continue reading
