Hello, first post of 2017!

Happy 2017!!!

Wait a minute…am I too late?! hahaha but seriously, how are we almost in the middle of May already?! So much has happened over here in the beginning of the year, family and friends coming to visit, travels and lots and lots of good food and cooking of course! Thank God everything is good around here and I only have good news to share 😀

Actually, speaking os sharing, all this time I was also debating if I should continue this blog or not, it has been 3 years since I started this blog… for the first year I didn’t blog too much, the second year I was more disciplined and posted a lot, especially because it was the year that we came to Berlin, so there was a lot of new stuff going on, last year I posted moderately, wanted to post more, but I got more undisciplined and didn’t do much stuff around the city because we were saving money (as we always are..haha), and because the excitement of a new city has passed, and now Berlin has become our home. Truth be told, I am an ordinary person, with an ordinary life, and yes, I like to stay at home doing some Netflix’n’Chill hahahaha I watch a lot of series and movies, and if there is nothing new that I want to watch, I put on Friends (for the ninetieth time…hahhaha) or Modern Family (for the tenth time, probably), basically anything that makes me laugh, even if I have watched it for a hundred times. Also, every time that I wanted to go somewhere and in the end it wasn’t possible, I was getting frustrated, because “what was I supposed to post on the blog this week?” it would end up ruining the day, and my better half wasn’t happy also with my behaviour. Since I already knew that January and February would be busy around here with visitors, I knew that I wasn’t going to be able to post anything on the blog for both months. Honestly, I didn’t miss posting, and was kind of relieved that I didn’t have the obligation to do it. So I started to ask myself if this was necessary, and went to a more psychological point of view…I don’t know about you, but social media sometimes annoy me, it’s weird how we are hooked up in this kind of thing…. I deleted my twitter account, which I started just because of the blog and never really used it, last week I deleted Flowery Soul’s page on facebook, and I also my personal account, it just didn’t have any purpose for me anymore. Now, if you’re thinking: why don’t you go live in the woods and isolate yourself from the world?! I would love to live in the woods or have a little farm on the countryside, but I’m not quite there yet..hahaha I still like Instagram,  I’m pretty active around there, and I try to follow people who inspire me, not the ones I end up feeling bad about myself (for me it’s crazy that we live in a world of digital influencers), because social media can do a lot of that to people if you’re not careful. I usually post food (of course), cute pictures of Paco (who doesn’t feel happy when they see a happy dog like him?!), pictures of nature, my embroidery work, books, travel and Berlin. Sometimes I post a picture of myself or with Rafael, but it’s rare…reason one: I am far from being the queen of selfies…hahahha; reason two: I just don’t need that kind of attention; reason three: I like to have a private life! I see a lot of posts out there that I don’t agree with and a lot of people that share every little detail of their lives, but I am not the type of person who posts a negative – judgy comment to these people, almost always my motto is: if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say it at all! What bothers me is that everyone seems to think that they are entitled to express their opinion everywhere. Don’t get me wrong, I believe in democracy, but there is no such thing as politeness on the web, I don’t know how many times that I saw Instagramers really sad because they got a mean comment, but usually the good ones are way more often than the bad, so my question is, why concentrate on the bad ones? Also, if you are on the social network, you are risking your neck everyday.  Today I can tell you that I am a private person, if I have a problem, the last place I would go looking for help or support is the social media…but hey, that’s just me, who knows what’s right and wrong in this virtual world. In spite of all of this, I started missing writing on the blog this month, and after our trip to France in April month, I thought, why not write about it, and tell our experience there, where we ate and where we stayed, maybe it would help somebody out. At least that is what we try to do before a trip, browse the web. So I decided that I am going to continue this blog, but also stay true to myself and what I believe in. In the end , I like to write, and unfortunately my teen diary days are over….hahahaha So if you want to know what I cook, read, eat, etc…in my totally regular life as a happy house wife, stick around!

Happy September, you guys!!

Sorry for the long silent treatment around here….I know, I know…almost died without me….hahahha of course not!

Nothing special going around here lately, just living the common house wife life, except with one more addition to it!

I decided to properly introduce Paco (Paquito is little Paco in Portuguese ❤ )  on the blog! If you follow me on Instagram (@brunaiglezias), you know that it has been just a little more than one month that Paco is in our lives!

I’m very happy to write this post and share the amazing work of my Brazilian friend Michel Demarchi (www.micheldemarchi.com.br / IG: @michel.demarchi). I met him when I used to work at IBM, and that my friends was in 2011. We weren’t in the same team, but we rode the same bus to and from work everyday, so one day we started talking. May I say that he is one of the funniest person that I know! It’s impossible not to laugh when you are around him, he is indeed one of a kind! One thing he is truly passionate about is jewelry, and that’s what he does on his free time.

Flowery Soul on the Way

After two years of blogging, I decided to change the name of the blog. I know, it’s not a pretty common thing to do, but I decided it was better. First cause: Butterscotch and Macaroons is too hard to remember, not even my closest friends remember my blog’s name…and if they don’t remember it, how do I expect someone else to?! Second cause: it’s a little bit tricky to write if you are not used to the english language (sometimes when I’m writing it down fast, I tend to write double “rr” instead of double “oo”in Macaroons 😮 ). Third reason: the name is too long, which also difficults the remembering part.

Don’t get me wrong, I love the name Butterscotch and Macaroons, and I also love, love, love, the logo Rafael did for me…but maybe it’s not right for a blog, at least that’s what I’m thinking now…let’s see how this will play out!

For the new name, I was thinking about something more personal, something to do with my personality. A few people know the “true me”, which is blocked a little by my shyness. I remember a tape that my mother recorded for me and my sister before she passed away, I was almost ten years old at the time, and she said: “Bruna is a happy girl, just like me”. From what I remember, she was always singing, smiling and dancing around…and I am just like that when I am alone at home…hahahha. If there were hiding cameras in my house capturing what I do when I’m alone in the house, it would probably make the top ten funniest videos of youtube for sure! hahahahahaha

After that idea, I thought a lot and came out with the name Flowery Soul, because a person who is almost happy all the time, except when I’m hungry, sleepy or with PMS (sorry, I’m not Wonder Woman you guys..lol), must have a soul like that!

Since Rafael is working a lot lately, my new logo will still take a while to get finished, and since I had already registered the domain because I didn’t want to loose the name, we decided to write the name with a good and simple typography, and start using it right away!

Please tell me what you think, people! Do you like the name?! Was it a good idea?!

Thank you so much!

Farewell Butterscotch and Macaroons, will love you for ever ❤

Do Yoga With Me

yoga pose

I’ve been fascinated by yoga since 2011, at the time I lived in Campinas – Brazil, and I was a member of gym that offered yoga classes once a week at night. I usually went to the gym straight from work, I always preferred doing exercise in the evening than in the morning. I remember that after a whole day sitting down in front of a computer, yoga kept my body and mind fully relaxed. Sadly, the classes lasted for about a year, because I moved to São Paulo. I tried finding a good studio or gym near my house to continue, but there wasn’t a lot, and the ones that were close were way too expensive. But I never gave yoga up, just put it on hold for a little while to discover a way to practise.

Cheers to 28!

IMG_2644

So, yesterday I turned 28 years old! Cannot stop thinking that it’s closer and closer to 30 😮 but what can we do right?! Time passes by so quickly, the only thing we can do about it is enjoy it as much as possible, am I right?! I definitely don’t feel 28, despite the fact that hangovers are getting much easier to suffer from as each year goes by. It’s like, ok body I understand you, you’re not processing alcohol as fast as you used to, especially when it comes to beer. But on the bright side, every time we go out for drinks, I find myself drinking less (it’s a good thing, no?! lol) and switching to spritz, cocktails or wine.

5 Weekly Favs

five_photo_frame 14

The biggest party in Brazil is starting today (in some cities it has already started), Carnival!! And what will we do?! Netflix and chill of course! hahahhaha We are not big fans of Carnival, I like it a little bit, but Rafael totally doesn’t and all of my friends are also running from it. We are going to visit some relatives of mine on Sunday, and have a big and typical Brazilian lunch which I’m really looking forward to!

Here are my five favorites of this week:

1- The new winter collection of one of my favorite Brazilian brand, Farm, is to die for! I want everything…seriously!

2- Almost cried watching the short animation, The Present, it’s amazing how we can learn through animals;

3- Better late than ever!! Started watching Grey’s Anatomy yesterday on Netflix, and I predict that until the end of the month I’ll be done with the 12th Season….totally addicted!

4- Life lessons with Iris Apfel;

5- I’m starting to think that I’m always posting about animal pictures, but I can’t help it, I love animals! Even this portrait of a  Spectacled cobra taken by photographer Tim Flach, probably looks better than me trying to pose for a picture…hahaha

Have a wonderful and blessed weekend!!

Our Wedding

_DSC2315

I disappeared a little bit from the blog a few days, because a lot is going on around here. We arrived in Brazil last week to resolve some personal issues…and also we kinda eloped! I posted almost two weeks ago that we got engaged…it was probably the fastest engagement ever! hahahaha We were already thinking of getting married this year, but since our future is very uncertain we decided to go to the civil registry office last Friday and get married! We told our family and the most closest friends, so that they would come and also be our witnesses. Of course we wanted to do a little ceremony with all of our family and friends, I would put on a wedding dress and have an unforgettable day, but for now this is what we could do. Maybe in a near future we will make this dream come true 🙂
