It’s 2018 and I’m still writing about our trip to France, that happened 10 months ago…. 😮 I promise that I will try to finish until the end of this year! hahaha It may seem that we spent like a month there, but it was 7 days….one of the best seven days of my life! It’s funny to live in Europe…everything is so close, but so much different from one another, and affordable…if you keep things simple (if you live on a budget like we do), you can easily plan a yearly trip to some place new. In Brazil, travelling is hard, especially if you don’t own a car (we didn’t), everything is so expensive…so we never traveled there, sad because Brazil has so many beautiful places. But now that we are here living in Berlin, I would like to visit many, many places…I don’t know if it will be possible to travel this year, but I would definitely go France again, again in again….weirdly, I don’t have the urge to visit Paris…I mean, of course I would like to go there…especially for the Louvre museum, but since we already live in a big city, I like to travel to calmer e quieter places, and the south of France is perfect for that!
When we were there last year (posts here, here, here, here and here), we stayed five days in Avignon, and from there we would take our cutest Fiat 500 rental and drive to close cities that was on our list. One city that was not on our list was L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, if I’m not mistaken, it was Veronica (the wonderful administrator of our charming hotel in Avignon, Hotel du Blauvac), that told us about this city, and said it was worth a visit. So we woke up one morning and decided to go there!
The city is basically an island, hence its name, the river Sorgue surrounds the city, and there are several canals running through its center. There are several little bridges to cross and water mills to see. If you’re in to antiquing, that is definitely your place! There are nearly 300 permanent antique dealers and second hand shops there. We went to a few to look at, and it was amazing! We also brought home a beautiful living room decoration from the cutest shop ever, I don’t remember its name…ugh! Sorry ’bout that! We also had one of the best meals during our trip there, and the name of the restaurant I know! Priorities, people! hahaha but I’m thinking of making some posts just to talk about food and restaurants we went to 😀
In the end, we didn’t take too many pictures of the most charming movie like city we’ve been to, so if you’re planning a trip to the south of France, put this city on your list and go see for yourself, you won’t regret it!
Did you notice that my eyes are closed?! I wasn’t able to keep them open because of the sunshine…hahaha Miss that sun!
One picture of this beautiful café wasn’t enough for me!
Panoramic picture 🙂
When we where leaving the town, we passed by this bakery that had these gigantic meringues, we were dying to eat one, but the store was closed! 😦 hahaha
I always have to take a picture of a duck or swan when I see them! ❤ The weather completely changed when we decided to leave, but that didn’t stop us from heading to another city, which I will post next time 😀
Stay tuned for more adventures in France!
Have a wonderful end of the week, with a lot of smiles!
