A Little Bit of Moabit

IMG_7399

Happy Monday, friends!!

We’ve been staying for almost a month now in a friends apartment in the neighbourhood of Moabit here in Berlin. Our apartment was rented until May 15th since we didn’t know when we were coming back. Luckily, our landlord decided to rent it for us again, so we are moving back to Neukölln this weekend. It’s been very interesting to know a “new” neighbourhood, Moabit is much more quiet than Neukölln, more like a family place. Today, everybody wants to live in Neukölln, its become kinda of a hipster neighbourhood, with a lot of young people, bars and countless places to eat. I like to live in Neukölln because Tempelhofer Feld is basically my backyard, but in a near future I wouldn’t mind moving to a calmer place…let’s face it, we are not that young and we don’t party all the time…hahahha

A Month Away and a lot of things to Say

IMG_0738

May the 4th be with you!! Best month of all, because it’s my month! hahaha

It’s funny how life can change so much in such a short period. You plan, and plan, and plan, but suddenly without any previous notice, destiny comes and changes everything…Thank God this time was for better! Last time I wrote a post here, we were still in sunny Brazil, trying to deal with 33 degrees Celsius in the beginning of Autumn! haha Just ten days after we had to rush through our things and pack our belongings to come back to this beautiful city that is Berlin!

Hamburg – Part II

IMG_6893

Hi guys! Hope you all had a wonderful Easter like we did! We spent the weekend at Rafael’s grandmother, and I had a lot of fun. Rafael’s two year old cousin, Daniel was there, boy did we play! It’s such a fun age, he laughs at anything, it’s so adorable! Can’t wait to have one myself! (No need for panic if you’re reading this, Rafael….hahahhaha).

Continuing our journey in Hamburg, I left the best for last! We did a little boat tour around the port, and we got to see beautiful buildings and some nice ships, hope you enjoy 😀

Hamburg – Part I

IMG_6841

Back in December, we did our last quick trip of the year to the city of Hamburg. We had a lot of fun that day, besides of the cold and drizzling weather. I was really amazed by the city, the new blending with the old, the modern architecture is a treat for the eyes. At the end of the night we strolled around a beautiful neighbourhood, the apartments were beautiful, all surrounded by trees, plants and flowers…I would move there easily!

Hope you enjoy the pictures!

Arracacha Gnocchi with Sage Butter

IMG_7306

I was supposed to post this on Monday, because I made this last Sunday for lunch. But Monday I didn’t download the pictures from the camera and then Tuesday I woke up with the most annoying cold. I got a little better today, but still got an itchy and stuffy nose with a little headache. But let’s not concentrate in the bad, because I have a super delicious recipe to share 🙂

Dresden – Part I

IMG_6663

Happy 1st of March you guys!!!

Can you believe it’s March already?! Just some more weeks to go and it will be easter! I’m not complaining, I can’t wait until April. There are a few things pending around here, and that month will be decisive. Not much is going on around here lately, so I finally downloaded pictures from trips we did in December while we were still in Germany. Dresden is the capital of the state of Saxony, and is located near the Czech border, it took us three hours to get there by bus from Berlin. We went with our good Italian friends Marina and Maurizio, and boy was it a cold day! I even had to stop at Rossmann to by a pair of socks, my feet were freezing…hahahaha

Butternut Squash Ravioli with Brown Butter

IMG_2180

Hello you guys, look who’s back from the dead….I am! hahaha After taking a little vacay and spending some quality time with my family, I’m ready to write, write and write some more!

It has been a while since I wanted to share this recipe that I found online on the Joy of Cooking. It was my first recipe with butternut squash, truth be told, I didn’t do it all by myself, Rafael helped a lot! It’s not the kind of recipe you spend only a hour, prepare to reserve a whole afternoon for it 😉 But I assure you that you will be highly rewarded!

5 Weekly Favs

five_photo_frame 14

The biggest party in Brazil is starting today (in some cities it has already started), Carnival!! And what will we do?! Netflix and chill of course! hahahhaha We are not big fans of Carnival, I like it a little bit, but Rafael totally doesn’t and all of my friends are also running from it. We are going to visit some relatives of mine on Sunday, and have a big and typical Brazilian lunch which I’m really looking forward to!

Here are my five favorites of this week:

1- The new winter collection of one of my favorite Brazilian brand, Farm, is to die for! I want everything…seriously!

2- Almost cried watching the short animation, The Present, it’s amazing how we can learn through animals;

3- Better late than ever!! Started watching Grey’s Anatomy yesterday on Netflix, and I predict that until the end of the month I’ll be done with the 12th Season….totally addicted!

4- Life lessons with Iris Apfel;

5- I’m starting to think that I’m always posting about animal pictures, but I can’t help it, I love animals! Even this portrait of a  Spectacled cobra taken by photographer Tim Flach, probably looks better than me trying to pose for a picture…hahaha

Have a wonderful and blessed weekend!!

Berlin from above

Happy first Monday of February you all!

We had a great weekend around here, Rafael, my mother-in-law and I went to São Roque (a little town close to São Paulo) to visit my family 🙂 Although the trip was fast, we arrived Saturday at lunch time and left yesterday afternoon, we had a really good time! It doesn’t matter how much days you spend there, you always eat, drink and laugh a lot, I sure was missing them after one year apart. Definitely planning a longer trip for the next time 😉 I know that we are now in Brazil, but we did so much great things in December while we were still in Berlin, that I just have to share!

From the beginning we wanted to go up on the famous TV Tower, one day we got up early to go, but when we got there, the line was huge….so we gave up and ended up leaving it for another day. Then, we discovered that you could also go up the Victory Column, which is located in Tiergarten, and was also a lot cheaper, only 3 euros.
