Our Wedding

_DSC2315

I disappeared a little bit from the blog a few days, because a lot is going on around here. We arrived in Brazil last week to resolve some personal issues…and also we kinda eloped! I posted almost two weeks ago that we got engaged…it was probably the fastest engagement ever! hahahaha We were already thinking of getting married this year, but since our future is very uncertain we decided to go to the civil registry office last Friday and get married! We told our family and the most closest friends, so that they would come and also be our witnesses. Of course we wanted to do a little ceremony with all of our family and friends, I would put on a wedding dress and have an unforgettable day, but for now this is what we could do. Maybe in a near future we will make this dream come true 🙂

Christmas Market

IMG_6988

Ok, so I’m probably a little bit late to write this post….I mean it’s almost one month after Christmas, and here I am talking about a Christmas market…Oh well, you’ll just have to bear and read about my favourite time of the year, just one last time…I promise  hahahahaha I’m sure that the Christmas markets around Berlin and Germany, is something you have to experience. In Brazil, we don’t have these kind of Christmas markets, probably because it’s 40 degrees outside, and who wants to drink Glühwein (hot wine) in a weather like that? ha! I truly feel in love with all the markets, you can find lots and lots of stuff there, not to mention great food! Is there any other way I can convince you to go? You have 11 months ahead to come up with a plan and go! hahaha

Five Weekly Favs

five_photo_frame 12

Well, this week started sad, but ended very, very happy! I was shocked and sad with David Bowie’s death, I think no one was expecting that news after he had just released his new album “Blackstar”. To be honest, I had a tiny hope that someday I would see him at a live concert…maybe I’ll catch one in the spiritual world…who knows?!

Besides that, you can read my very exciting news below 😀

Here are my five favourites of this week:

1- I think that “Heroes“is the first music I heard from David Bowie, and it makes me feel great until today! It’s that kind of music, that when you hear, it feels like you have the power of doing anything in world, like nothing is impossible. That’s how I will remember Bowie, nothing was impossible for him, he revolutionized the world with his greatness! Thank you for your words, songs and melody ❤ ❤ ❤

2- Wishing that this news is true, please reunite Friends!

3- Ok, so the big news is: I got engaged! ❤ ❤ ❤ It was supposed to be a typical Wednesday, with friends and beers at a Irish Pub here in Berlin, but before the night was over, Rafael proposed out of the blue! I can’t even describe how happy I am, these things change you in a funny way. I am also happy that we shared this moment with beloved friends, made it even more special 🙂 I sure do love this man, and can’t wait to marry him ❤ ❤ ❤

4- Stunning black and white portraits of celebrities at the golden globes, and if you haven’t seen The Revenant, please do! It’s a very good movie, hope that Leo gets the Oscar this time, crossing my fingers!

5- Fantastical paintings of animals within post-apocalyptic environments by Martin Wittfooth.

Hope you all have a wonderful and blessed weekend!

Snowy Berlin

I was soooo happy last week, it finally snowed in Berlin, I mean REALLY snowed!! I have such great memories of having fun playing in the snow when I was growing up in Philadelphia, my sister and I stayed outside for hours, sliding with our laundry baskets….let’s face it, there are a million ways to improvise if you don’t a sleigh! hahahahaha. Since Philly, I haven’t seen so much snow until now, even Rafael got surprised with my behaviour, he said: “You are in such ecstasy!”. It’s true, I felt like a child again….ha!

This first week of 2016 was really fun and special….it finally snowed in Berlin!! I took some great pictures of my favourites spots in the city, I will definitely share it next week 🙂

Here are my first five favourites of 2016 😀

1- Rare color photos of Germany in 1900 before it was destroyed by wars;

2- Channing Tatum’s performance on Lip Sync Battle, really made my laugh!

Embellished Sweater

I usually don’t write a lot about fashion, but that doesn’t mean I’m not interested on the subject. I think mainly because I’m not an avid fashion consumer, I don’t buy clothes every month, and some pieces in my closet are from friends or family who were giving away clothes in perfect condition. I always try to style my pieces in different looks and sometimes when I get bored with something I try to customize it. I’ve always been a huge fan of customize clothes, I remember when I was in high school, I had a pair of jeans that I loved and painted it with all the names of my favourite rock bands. I also liked to rip my jeans and have friends write on my brand new all-stars, that really drove my family crazy…hahahahahaha but you know…phases!

Happy New Year, friends!

Five years ago, when I was just graduating from College, I would have never imagined myself living in Berlin. When I met Rafael back in 2010, he was already planning to live abroad, and so he did. A whole year passed by, and after he got back from Canada, we started dating for real and began making new plans. After saving money for three years, our dream finally came true!

Our Christmas in Berlin

IMG_2188

After worrying about my first Christmas as a host last week, today I can tell you that it was a success….YAY!!! I’m so happy that everything went well, thank God! Of course there was a little a stress in the kitchen the day before Christmas eve (minor disagreement about lemon curd), but in spite of that, the food was delicious and the people were pleased. This was the first Christmas that I spent away from my family or anybody’s family, it was a special Christmas with friends that are also a long way from home. Our Italian friends Maurizio and Ivan came, and also I had the pleasure to meet Gabriel and Ana, a couple from Brazil, he studied in College with Rafael and they were here in Berlin as tourists, so we invited them of course. We had so much fun, Italians and Brazilians have so much in common, the language is very similar, sometimes it’s easier to speak in our native language than english, or german….of course…hahahha.

We sure did have a great time, we laughed and ate a lot! I get so happy when I see other people eating my food and enjoying it. I’m so grateful and thankful, it could not have been better 😀

Christmas Feast

For the first time in my life, I’m going to cook a whole christmas meal. Rafael and I spent all day running around after the ingredients, and we still do not have all of them. We just came back from Ikea, because we just have one good roasting pan, now there’s three…and four more wine glasses, two spatulas and an appetizer set 😀 it was impossible to buy just the roasting pans…hahaha

Anyway, I’m finding this dinner a bit of a challenge, because I was thinking of roasting a big chicken, with at least 2 kilos…but it’s impossible to find it here, you only find little small ones. I found out that the famous birds for christmas here are turkey, duck and goose. I almost changed the recipe to turkey, but instead I’m going with two small chickens…no problem 😉

So, here is my ideia for dinner on Thursday night:

Appetizers:

  • 3 different types of pâtés, that we will buy from a turkish supermarket, with bread;
  • Camembert cheese with apricot jam;
  • Jamón serrano;
  • Olives (that I love).

Main course:

  • Rice with almonds;
  • Roast Chicken;
  • Roast Vegetables;
  • Honeyed Ham with Pears and Cranberries;
  • Stuffed Conchiglioni with Spinach and Feta;

Dessert:

  • Fruit Tart (that I’m really nervous to make).

I hope that everything goes as smoothly as possible, and of course I’ll have my special helper, Rafael of course…ha! I’m going to start preparing tomorrow, so wish me luck! And of course I’m gonna share the results of this game, Christmas Dinner x Bruna, later this week or the next one.

I hope that you all have a wonderful and blessed Christmas with your loved ones! We are going to miss our family for sure this year, but at least we have one another and dear friends close by 🙂

Merry Christmas!

xoxo and hohoho!
