Taco Tuesday!

IMG_7824

Happy August, you guys!!

It’s been a while since I was craving tacos, and yesterday, after a failed attempt on trying to build a meal plan for at least this week, I decided to make tacos today!! This recipe is very similar to a burrito one that I’ve been doing a lot lately over here (which I still need to post!), but I don’t know why I find taco shells really fun to eat, even if you make a big mess (which I do…ha!).

I usually never post about books around here, but if you follow me on Instagram (@brunaiglezias), you see that I always post the current book that I am reading. I’m not a book worm, but I always like to have a book on my night stand.

Funkhaus Berlin

IMG_7677

Three Sundays ago, Rafael and I went to an open air event hosted by Bite Club at Funkhaus, as you can see here. We went of course, for the food, and also for the Funkhaus tour. Before that, I had never heard about this place, so I looked it up and found out that is was East Germany’s central radio station, we got pretty curious after that, and couldn’t wait to see it!

Treat of the Week

IMG_7774

This week was a very special one, Tuesday was Rafa’s birthday!! I wanted to surprise him, since I wasn’t able to give him the present that I had in mind, so I decided to bake him a cake! Some of you may be thinking…really, a cake?! Yes! I do not have a great history with cakes, I cook a lot of good things around here, but I always had trouble with cakes…some of then didn’t grow, some weren’t baked right…so you can imagine the level of anxiety I was feeling when I decided to bake a cake, it couldn’t go wrong! And guess what, it didn’t! A big HOORAY for me!! hahaha

Bite Club BBQ

IMG_7741

As I said before, Berlin is full of fun events now in the Summer, it’s hard to choose one…but I usually go to the ones where food is involved…hahaha On Sunday, Bite Club was hosting a barbecue event at Funkhaus Berlin, an old radio broadcasting building from the GDR period. I’m going to write a special post about this amazing building, because there was a tour and Rafa took some amazing pictures of it! The location was a little far from our apartment, and the weather was not as its best…around 20 degrees celsius with a little bit of sun, clouds and windy…but I decided to embrace the “Summer day” and wear shorts! Of course I felt chilly the moment I stepped on the street, but I was trusting on the sun…it did come out a few times, kept me warm while we were sitting besides the Spree river. When we decided to come home, it was already cloudy, and as soon as we got home, it poured, we were lucky!

Our Wedding Rings

I’m very happy to write this post and share the amazing work of my Brazilian friend Michel Demarchi (www.micheldemarchi.com.br / IG: @michel.demarchi). I met him when I used to work at IBM, and that my friends was in 2011. We weren’t in the same team, but we rode the same bus to and from work everyday, so one day we started talking. May I say that he is one of the funniest person that I know! It’s impossible not to laugh when you are around him, he is indeed one of a kind! One thing he is truly passionate about is jewelry, and that’s what he does on his free time.

Treat of the Week

IMG_7601

I’ve been cooking a lot lately, not just everyday meals, but also baking. A few weekends ago, Rafa and I went to IKEA to buy some things for our apartment, and I bought some kitchen items that I wanted for a long time. Now that we have our 3 year residence visa to stay in Germany (thank you so much, God and Rafael, for all your hard work!), we can buy things without being afraid that it won’t fit in our luggage, let’s forget about moving back to Brazil for at least this period of time. Returning to the subject, since last year I wanted to try and make muffins, I’ve been craving them since I don’t know when…haha One of the things I finally bought, was a muffin pan, so I decided to try my luck and make my first batch last Sunday!

This hoop took way more time than I expected, it was supposed to be ready before the new season of Game of Thrones started (procrastination, why do you exist?!). Luckily, I finished it on Monday, and cannot think of a better time to post it, because I’m really anxious for the ninth episode!!! I’m ready for the epic battle! GO STARKS!!!

Around Berlin

IMG_7531

Happy Monday, friends!

We had a really nice weekend over here, hope you had a good one as well! We enjoyed the nice weather on Saturday to walk around our neighbourhood and visit a little street market. Berlin in the spring is full of things to do on the weekend, which is tough to choose, but no matter what, you always end up having a good time anywhere.

Flowery Soul on the Way

After two years of blogging, I decided to change the name of the blog. I know, it’s not a pretty common thing to do, but I decided it was better. First cause: Butterscotch and Macaroons is too hard to remember, not even my closest friends remember my blog’s name…and if they don’t remember it, how do I expect someone else to?! Second cause: it’s a little bit tricky to write if you are not used to the english language (sometimes when I’m writing it down fast, I tend to write double “rr” instead of double “oo”in Macaroons 😮 ). Third reason: the name is too long, which also difficults the remembering part.

Don’t get me wrong, I love the name Butterscotch and Macaroons, and I also love, love, love, the logo Rafael did for me…but maybe it’s not right for a blog, at least that’s what I’m thinking now…let’s see how this will play out!

For the new name, I was thinking about something more personal, something to do with my personality. A few people know the “true me”, which is blocked a little by my shyness. I remember a tape that my mother recorded for me and my sister before she passed away, I was almost ten years old at the time, and she said: “Bruna is a happy girl, just like me”. From what I remember, she was always singing, smiling and dancing around…and I am just like that when I am alone at home…hahahha. If there were hiding cameras in my house capturing what I do when I’m alone in the house, it would probably make the top ten funniest videos of youtube for sure! hahahahahaha

After that idea, I thought a lot and came out with the name Flowery Soul, because a person who is almost happy all the time, except when I’m hungry, sleepy or with PMS (sorry, I’m not Wonder Woman you guys..lol), must have a soul like that!

Since Rafael is working a lot lately, my new logo will still take a while to get finished, and since I had already registered the domain because I didn’t want to loose the name, we decided to write the name with a good and simple typography, and start using it right away!

Please tell me what you think, people! Do you like the name?! Was it a good idea?!

Thank you so much!

Farewell Butterscotch and Macaroons, will love you for ever ❤
