Upside down Pineapple Cake

IMG_0094

TGIF!! This week was a slow one, does anybody else think that?! Managed to wake up early monday and tuesday, but from wednesday on it was so hard getting out of bed…ugh! It was so warm under the covers, and it was grey and rainy outside…sleeping should not feel so good! hahahaha other than that, I did a lot of cooking and baking this week, spent almost the whole morning and afternoons in the kitchen. My life seriously revolves around eating, and I’m very happy about that!! haha I love to browse the web, book and magazines for new recipes, and this week I found one really good! I follow a lot of people on IG, I guess most of them have blogs, but I always forget to check it out when I’m on the computer. I’ve been following Yossy Arefi’s IG for some time now, and I’m always amazed by her food pics, they are so beautiful and mouth watering…these days she posted a photo of a pineapple cake that gave me serious cravings, I love pineapple!!! Until that post, I think I had never noticed that she has a blog, Apt. 2B Baking Co. so I finally entered her blog to see the recipe, and apparently it was easy…I little bit odd for me, because I never put crème fraîche in a cake before, but hey there’s a first time for everything, right?! So I went to the supermarket last friday, to bake the cake during the weekend, but in the end I wasn’t feeling so good due to cramps (that time of month…). I ended up doing the cake on tuesday, by then, my pineapple was very ripe, I almost lost it, but I managed to save it to do the cake…yay!!!

Hello you guys, happy 2018!!!

Hope you guys had an awesome NYE! We sure did around here, despite all the craziness on the streets…it was the third time that we went to the Irish Times pub, it’s a little bit more quiet, not your typical Berlin kinda party, but that’s why we love going there. This year we went with our italian friends and had a really amazing time. Truth be told, I may have exaggerated a bit on the drinks, and drunk Bruna appeared after midnight….hahahaha I always remember that Friends episode when Chandler does a formal surprise party for Monica’s 30th birthday and she comes home drunk and tries to act sober, and during the episode Phoebe says that she loves drunk Monica, because she’s so much more fun than regular Monica! hahahahaha We’ll my friends, I am a little bit like that, but in a different way…regularly I am a shy person, especially when I meet someone new…there is definitely a learning curve to really get to know me…but when I’m drunk, wow…I become a blabber mouth and also do some crazy stuff…haha this year, when we were going home from the pub, I started to run in the subway station and managed to go up the escalator in the opposite direction….I always wanted to know if I could manage to do that with the escalator going down…hahahha and don’t know how I didn’t fall, I was also wearing heals…hahaha so you can imagine my condition the next morning….yes guys, the first hangover of 2018! hahahaha and of course made that false promise to myself that I would never drink like that again….we’ve all been there, right?! But I don’t regret it, I had so much fun! I also wished happy new year to everyone in the subway, how great is that?! hahaha

2017 Best Nine from Instagram

2017 what a year!! This year was really good to us, I’m so grateful for that! What I will remember the most is our first trip to France! I always dreamed of going to France, and I still can’t believe it happened 😀 I still have a lot of pictures to share from that trip (I know, I thought I would be done until the end of the year, but that didn’t happen…so you’ll still hear about it in 2018! hahaha). Also, our apartment was renovated, and it looks 1000% better with nice floors and some blue walls! Yes, it was stressful, but we powered through! It was the first time I went to an open-air cinema to watch The Beguiled…probably the last also…who knew that people could smoke while watching the movie (I hate smoke!), but I had to go and see how it was…hahaha Summer was really rainy, but I still went to the pool a couple of times on the hot days, and of course to the park with Paco. I bought roller skates and felt like I was a child with its first pair! Enjoyed it a lot at the park…with Paco as well…hahaha My family and friend came to visit in the beginning of the year and we also had the most amazing time together…then Rafael’s mother came with a friend to visit us again in September, and we also had a lovely time together…We love having people at our place! Enjoyed watching the leaves turning golden, brown, yellow, orange and red in Autumn. And for the first time since we’ve been here for the past two years it snowed before Christmas! I couldn’t be more thrilled about that! Made some embroidery, still currently learning knitting…I hope that picks up in 2018! hahaha Made delicious things in the kitchen, and for the very first time, I made beef bourguignon, and it came out very delicious (almost sure you can’t mess up that recipe..haha). Had an awesome Christmas feast for our friends for the third year in a row..really happy about that one!

I’m so happy about the little things and big things that happened in 2017, and I hope that 2018 will be the same or even better! I want to be more present around here next year, because it’s a thing that I really love doing! And I wanted to say thank you for every like and comment around here, that really makes me happy…connecting with people that are around the world!

I hope you have an amazing New Year’s Eve, wherever you are, and may your 2018 be filled with happiness, blessings, adventures, peace, health and lots and lots of love! ❤ ❤ ❤

See you all next year!

xx

Hello lovelies!

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas, filled with good food, family, friends and lots of love! We had an amazing Christmas around here, we made a dinner for our friends, and it was so much fun! Even if we woke up 6 am on Christmas eve to spend the entire day cooking and baking, it was totally worth it! For the first time we cooked a whole Turkey, we were a little bit afraid of doing it, because our oven is small and weren’t sure if we could fit the bird in….so we managed to find a “small” turkey, around 4 kilos and it fit just fine! YAY! We followed a Jamie Oliver recipe for it, and the turkey came out perfectly, juicy and tasty! We were really afraid that it would come out dry, but talk about beginners luck! hahaha Other than that, I only managed to take one picture of the night, it’s impossible to keep taking pictures of the food when you are dying to eat…priorities people! hahahaha

Anyway, it is too late to share a recipe of Christmas cookies I baked last week and the week before that?! haha I wanted so much to share this before Christmas, but I didn’t find the time to do it…but I swear that you can bake this throughout the year, because they are so crazy delicious!!! Buttery, lemony bites of heaven…hahaha This was actually the first time that I baked these cookies, I found the recipe at a supermarket food magazine called Mit Liebe, I really like this magazine, they have so many good recipes! I always get it at the Edeka supermarket when it comes out, plus, it’s free!! I’m getting pretty good at learning to read recipes in german, sometimes it can be a bit confusing, but google translator is a blessing! hahahaha Baking Christmas cookies it a huge thing around here, and this is the second year I do it (last year’s cookies here), I hope it will become a tradition in our house 🙂 but to tell you the truth, I enjoy much more baking them, than eating them! We are not big sugar fans around here, and since the recipes come in big batches, I decided to give them as a little Christmas gift to our friends that came to our Christmas dinner 😀

Happy Friday, you guys!! Can’t believe how fast this week went by, Christmas is already so close, and we still haven’t decided what we are going to cook for our Christmas dinner on the 24th….other than that, we are planning to go to a christmas market tomorrow here in Berlin, don’t know which one, since there are a lot of options. It’s my favourite thing to do in December here in Berlin, eat some great food, drink hot chocolate or Glühwein and enjoy the Christmas spirit!

10 Gift Ideas for Designers!

gifts

20 days until Christmas! But who’s counting?! Me, me, me!! I’m definitely on the countdown for Christmas and can’t wait to make our Christmas dinner again this year! I may be a little late for this post (or not) because I’m planning to buy Rafael’s Christmas present(s) this week. I never do these kind of posts around here, but I thought it would be fun to do it this year 😀 Since Rafael is a graphic designer, I decided to ask him what cool gifts he would like to get and make a list out of it. Now, he already has a couple of gifts from the list, and I would definitely love to give him the others, but I already had set my mind on a different thing, so maybe he’ll get them in the future…hahaha I think I created a pretty cool and diverse gift list, with some easy affordable things, and some that requires a little bit more money….so pick how many you like! haha Hope you enjoy!

Tiny details

IMG_8812

I’ve been wanting to write this post since I don’t know when! A long time has passed since my last embroidery post…I’m always doing some kind of handwork, lately I picked up knitting 🙂 but I still have an embroidery hoop to finish, it’s definitely taking way more time than I imagined, and I also got a little bit bored with it, so I decided to do something a little more faster and fun 😀 I bought this jeans shirt last year already with the intention of doing a little embellishment of some kind. I went back and forth with ideas, firstly I wanted to do something on the back of the shirt, but it would probably be something big, something that would demand time (a lot of it). Since I couldn’t decide what to do, I started wearing the shirt, but I still had the feeling that something was missing, so I finally decided to put some little details on the shirt, cause ya know, sometimes less is more! Let’s just leave it like that! hahaha

Nîmes

IMG_8342

Hello you, that’s right I am talking to you, the person that is reading this post, I’m happy you are here, enjoying this experience with me 🙂 This is the first time that I’m writing a post from bed….caught a nasty cold this week, so in bed I shall stay! Can’t believe we are already in the middle of November, I am so excited for Christmas!!! (who’s with me?!). Yesterday I couldn’t help myself and started listening to Dean Martin’s and Bing Crosby’s Christmas albums on Spotify, oh how I’m dreaming of a white Christmas! Even though I haven’t seen one since we arrived in Berlin in 2015….but hope never dies! hahaha

I still have a few posts to right about our trip to France, and I hope that I will finish until the end of the year, ha! This time, I wanted to share a few pics from the city of Nîmes. Do you remember the posts that I wrote about the city of Arles?! You can find them here and here. The day that we visited Arles, we also visited Nîmes, the cities are so close, and it was already on our list, and since we stayed in France for seven days, we wanted to make the most out of it 😀

Autumn in Grunewald

IMG_8680

Happy Friday, y’all!! Can’t believe how fast this week went by, at least for me. So, last Sunday was a wonderful warm sunny day around here, which was pretty shocking to be honest, because it felt like a summer day in the middle of October! haha And if it’s 20 degrees celsius, you just have to make the most of it! That’s why I decided, for the first time, to go to Grunewald 😀 (when I say “I decided” it’s because Rafael will never come up with these kind of ideas, he usually likes to stay home on Sundays and enjoy his resting day. No problem with me, but sometimes I like to get out of the house and do something, and this “something” is usually a thing he doesn’t like very much, so sometimes he tags along, and sometimes not). Rafael tagged along this time, but was not feeling so well due to a cough, or something like that….but we managed to give Paco the time of his life! The main reason I wanted to go there was because of Paco, countless people already told me how fun it is to take your dog there, because of the lake where they can swim. I didn’t know what were my expectations when I left home, but I came home so happy after having such a great day, I really enjoy being in the middle of nature, I love looking at trees and see how tall they are (silly, I know…but hey, that’s me! hahaha).

Arles – Part II

IMG_8315

Hey guys! Here I am again…two weeks in a row, how awesome is that?! hahaha It’s Friday night, and I am at home with cramps while Rafael is at a party, but don’t worry, no losses here, when I’m finished with this post I’m going to do some serious Netflix’n’Chill…hahaha I’ve been really hooked up on Jane the Virgin lately, I’ve spent some time neglecting it because the name didn’t appeal to me enough to try and watch it, but then a few weeks back I didn’t know what to watch and decided to give it a try, if only I known what I’ve been missing, it’s so funny (and sometimes sad, if you are watching the third season) and the characters are so great, especially Rogelio! Love that dude, so funny! Legit telenovela! hahaha Anyway, I’m going off topic here, but I could definitely ramble on a lot more about it!

What I really wanted to share today, are the last pictures that Rafael took of the city of Arles. I don’t think I mentioned this on the first post I did about Arles, but we decided to visit Arles, because Vincent van Gogh lived there from 1888 to 1889, and produced over 300 paintings and drawings during his time there.
